About this image

Life’s most urgent question is: What are you doing for others? – Martin Luther King

Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) members are teenagers who are passionate about sharing conservation and the natural world with Carolina Raptor Center visitors. Youth Volunteer Corps members assist and interact with CRC visitors, enhancing the visitor experience and sharing their knowledge. YVC are trained to work with props and mobile cart programs on the Visitor Center trail and work in teams with another student.  Volunteers commit to weekly 3-hour shifts during the summer months. Please note that this program focuses on sharing information and educating visitors. It is not a science research program, and it does not involve animal handling.  The Youth Volunteer Corps Program is open to students in grades 9-12 in the upcoming school year.

Applications for 2017 summer Youth Volunteer Corps are now OPEN. The deadline for both parts of the application to be submitted is 5:00 p.m.Wednesday, April 19, 2017. A complete application consists of a student application and a teacher recommendation, preferably from a current or former science teacher. Homeschool students will need to get a recommendation from an unrelated adult such as a music teacher, coach, or youth group leader. Please contact Audrey Blackburn with any questions about the Youth Volunteer Corps.

Come and see our current Youth Volunteer Corps members on the Raptor Trail Weekdays 10 am-4 pm.
