Educate Your Community and Yourself

It is astonishing how short a time it takes for wonderful things to happen. – Francis H. Burnett

A Docent is trained to educate visitors about raptors.

  • Watch over assigned exhibits
  • Answer visitor questions
  • Have conversations about the birds
  • Educate using props
  • Teach others how to help raptors in the wild
  • Lead hands-on activities

Docents are integral in educating visitors about raptor conservation. Because the birds at CRC were once wild animals, we limit unnecessary human and bird interactions as much as possible for the comfort of the birds. Because of this, Docents do not handle live birds.

Before they can volunteer, potential Docents MUST attend one of the following mandatory trainings:

  • Trainings dates will be announced when the program reopens to new volunteers.

Due to limitations on staff, individual trainings are not possible at this time.
