About this image

Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door! Quoth the Raven "Nevermore." – Edgar Allen Poe, The Raven

How Smart are Crows? Scary Smart!

Are you smarter than a corvid? Test yourself and your suspicions in the Family Corvidae exhibit, where human mythology meets bird intelligence. Stories of Native Americans, Celts and Hebrews mix together to form a mythic picture of how humans view these mysterious dark beauties. Intelligence and ingenuity are themes that play out along the Raptor Trail in this exhibit. Clever crows throw nuts into crosswalks so that cars can run them over and provide a tasty treat. Ingenious jays move their food stashes to stay one step ahead of other scavengers. Ravens and magpies are curious mimics – taking up expressions of those around them. Watch this TED talk about Crows if you have any doubts.
