Capture your Imagination in Flight!

Carolina Raptor Center is located at 6000 Sample Road in Huntersville, NC, inside Latta Plantation Nature Preserve. Enjoy the over 25 species of raptors living along our 3/4 mile Raptor Trail with a self-guided tour. Please click here for our trail map. Explore our raptor hospital with a behind the scenes tour. Have a conversation with a magpie. Come visit, come learn, come be amazed! Carolina Raptor Center is closed on Christmas, New Year's Day and Easter Sunday.

Carolina Raptor Center's high flying, gravity defying summer flight show features our native and exotic birds in free flight. Follow the cules to solve a different case each month this summer. Please arrive a half an hour early so that you won't miss the show. Tickets will be sold up until 10 minutes before the show begins. Gates to amphitheatre open 30 minutes before show time. Unfortunately, due to the terrain and flight paths of the birds at our amphitheatre, we can only accommodate one wheelchair. Strollers not permitted in amphitheatre.

Eagle Encounter
Learn about CRC's resident bald and golden eagles, step inside our eagle aviary, tour our Eagle Research Observatory to learn about nesting season, and meet one of CRC's eagle ambassadors up close and personal!
 
Behind the Curtain
 
Learn what it takes to get a bird flight show ready. CRC’s staff trainers will talk to participants about the ins and outs of training using positive reinforcement while flying some of our flight team stars.
 
Vulture Venture
Participants will learn all about vultures and conservation of their species worldwide as they walk with one of CRC's resident vultures in a training session using positive reinforcement techniques.
 
Enrichment for Raptors
Participants will learn about the enrichment program at Carolina Raptor Center, make enrichment for a select species, and watch as staff trainers distribute the enrichment and monitor the birds' interactions.

Exhibits Now Showing

Take a walk through Vulture Culture and learn more about the mysterious creatures that are so crucial to our ecosystem. 

 

The Owl Forest: A Nature Notebook is sure to be a hoot that everyone can enjoy. Walk through the trees to spot your favorites. Or stop by The Owl Forest Artist Center to draw your experience. 

 

A Day in the Life of a Raptor Hospital takes you step-by-step through our rehabilitation process at Jim Arthur Raptor Medical Center. This hand on exhibit gives you a closer look at CRC's true passion. 

 

The Betty J. and J. Stanley Livingston Eagle Aviary are home to our resident Golden and Bald Eagles. During nesting season you can get a closer look at Savannah and Derek from the Marcy's Eagle Research Observatory deck. 

 

The Physics of Flight exhibit takes guest into the air to showcase the bird’s ability to fly at extreme altitudes, speeds, and environments. 

 

Measuring Wonder through your experience at CRC! Take a quick survey that measures your experience based on how you view CRC. This exhibit will help us improve our facility to impact guests in a positive way!
