In addition to volunteering or donating money, there are many ways that you can help Carolina Raptor Center get the word out about the great things going on here.
Invite a friend to walk the trail. Our 3/4 mile Raptor Trail is the best example of what we do at Carolina Raptor Center. With over 20 native species and other exotic species that live here, we are able to talk about natural history, science and conservation issues that surround birds of prey and how these issus effect the human population. To find out what is going on, check our online calendar of events or call Visitor Services Center at 704-875-6521 x 107. If you have a great time, write about your experience on Great Non-profits.com. Many of you have already shared your experiences, and we've got a five-star rating!
Attend a special event. Carolina Raptor Center has two big events a year - A
Round for the Raptors Golf Tournament in late Spring and the Go WILD! Benefit Concert and Photo Auction in the Fall. Throughout the year, there are public events on the Raptor Trail including Young Vet's Day in April during the NC Science Festival and our annual Halloween Carnival - Hoot and Howl held on the last Saturday in October. Friends of Carolina Raptor Center have organized events to benefit Carolina Raptor Center, including HooterFest, Ride for Raptors (fall) in Pendleton, SC, and the Raptor Ride (summer) hosted by Brandon Hills Vineyard in Yadkinville.
Schedule a raptor release in your neighborhood or attend one of our public releases. There is nothing better than watching a rehabilitated raptor being returned to the wild. The Jim Arthur Raptor Medical Center saw over 830 birds in fiscal year 2012 and is on track to match that record in 2013. Of those birds, 70% that live past the first 24 hours are released back into the wild. That means that hundreds of birds must be released every year. Our release a raptor program has ways that you can schedule a release for your public event or determine whether your backyard is an appropriate habitat.
Tell your raptor story. Go to our facebook page and let us know about great experiences that you have had observing raptors in the wild, rescuing an injured raptor or releasing one back into the wild. Let us know at www.facebook.com/CarolinaRaptorCenter..
