Winter Camp Camper presents his predator to the class during Winter Camp 2016. Photo by Jayna Saltrick.About this imageA (raptor)'s work hours are only when he's hungry; once he's satisfied, the predator and prey live peacefully together. – Chuck Jones (paraphrased) Winter Camps at Carolina Raptor Center A few years ago, our curator of programs got a call from a Summer Camper’s mom, asking if we had day camp for kids on their days off of school. She listened, and started our Winter Camp program to give kids an outlet for activity and learning on school holidays. The first year of the program was popular with almost 10 kids participating each day. The price is right at only $35/day for the full day program. Some kids come more than once, and others pick their favorite topic for their camp day. The camp serves kids 8-11 and 11-14 and has the same hours as our summer camp program. Drop off at 8-8:30 am and pick up from 4:30-5 pm. Extended day is available ($10/day) for drop off as early as 7:30 am and pick up as late as 5:30 pm. The camp schedule is decided in the fall, based on the Charlotte Mecklenburg School Calendar. Camps are subject to cancellation due to weather, make-up days and low attendance. The camp is staffed by CRC staff and interns.
