Carolina Raptor Center offers formal education programs to fit the needs of all grade levels. Formal education programs are geared toward schools, day cares, camps, and other education facilities and feature 3-4 birds being presented in a structured program format. Education programs last an average of 45 minutes. If you are looking for information on bringing Carolina Raptor Center to your offsite event, please follow this link.

Formal Education Program Offerings

Tiny Talon Tales
Grades Pre-K-Kindergarten
Audience size: 60
Length: 30-45 min.

Let your students’ imaginations soar! Children will spread their wings as they listen to stories of raptors and see them come alive. Meet 2 feathered friends, hear a raptor-themed book, and explore a touch table full of feathers and fur.

Predators from the Sky
Grades 1-12 to Adult
Audience size: 60
Length: 45 min.

Live birds of prey will help you discover their kinship with native wildlife and humans. Learn what makes raptors unique in the avian world and explore what actions can be taken to make a difference for wildlife and our environment. Choose one of our available topics or suggest your own! Topics include: Adaptations, Habitat, Endangered Species, Ecology, Native American Culture, Nocturnal Species, Diurnal Species and Urban species. Programs are designed to meet NC Standard Course of Study.

Birds of the World

Length: 45 min.

Meet exotic, non-native birds of prey from all over the world. Soar to South America to meet one of the most elusive owls on the planet and glide to the Middle East on the wings of a falcon. We’ll take you around the globe in an hour’s time.

Physics of Flight
Grades 1st-adult
Audience size: Up to 200
Length: 45 min.

Our Physics of Flight program defies gravity and lets the imaginations of students take flight. Learn about the Bernoulli Principle, air foils, and adaptations while watching some of our residents on the wing. Students' spirits will soar with this amazing demonstration of flight.
