Learn How to Educate Children and Adults with Raptors

Wild Wings Education Interns participate in the day to day goings on of our education department.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Learning to assist and present dynamic education programs using live raptors
  • Working with camp interns to present educational activities to our summer campers
  • Occasionally assisting with resident bird care department, which may include feeding, cleaning, and cage maintenance
  • Assisting and leading docent activities on the raptor trail
  • Onstage and backstage duties for summer free-flight show
  • Assisting education staff as needed
  • Assisting with Measuring Wonder project
  • Complete one personal project to impact our education department

Applicants should be self-motivated and be willing to both learn and teach skills, be able to work with a variety of staff and volunteers, and be able to adjust to somewhat unpredictable and often long hours. The position includes outdoor work in all types of weather. Please note the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to positively interact with members of the public
  • Must speak fluent English
  • Must be currently working toward a career in an education or animal care field

Wild Wings Education internships require a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week, including weekends.

The internship runs from May 2017 until September 3, 2017 (Start and end dates somewhat flexible to change based on college schedules of applicants)
