PR and Social Media Internship The Marketing Communications Department at Carolina Raptor Center is responsible for all outward facing communications and activities of the organization. This includes, but is not limited to, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Social Media, Visitor and Customer Relations, Group Sales, Rentals and the Raptor Trail. The Director is seeking an intern to focus on writing and video/photo design for external audiences including press releases, Facebook posts on two accounts, Blog posts, a Twitter feed and a YouTube Channel. The intern will be focused in the areas of online communications, video development, photography and media relations. The intern must be able to interface with other staff members, partners, and visitors. Additional work includes tracking assignments/tasks, adhering to deadlines, and organizing job materials. This is an ideal opportunity for a student to gain practical experience, build their portfolio, engage with members of the media, visitors and friends of Carolina Raptor Center. During an internship at CRC, you will be mentored by professionals who understand the value of developing young professionals to succeed in the non-profit and public relations fields. Qualifications • Earning a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, public relations or communications or liberal arts equivalent. • Ability to prioritize, organize and meet deadlines. • Ability to work independently with a positive attitude. • Strong reporting, writing and editing skills, proficiency with AP style. • Detail-oriented and strong problem solving skills. • Resourceful, flexible and adaptable to changing assignments • Proficient in web administration software. • Comfort with social media outlets, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and You Tube. • Some experience with video editing and document layout software. • Interest in the mission of Carolina Raptor Center.
