Witness the return of a rehabilitated raptor to the wild up close and in person!

There are few things more inspiring that watching a red-tailed hawk circle over an open field or hearing a wild owl "hoot" at dusk. Learn about these incredible birds of prey and be a part of this magical experience by RAR2.jpgsponsoring the recovery of a raptor with our Release-a-Raptor Program. Over 900 birds are brought to our renowned rehabilitation center each year to receive care. Of those that survive the first 24 hours, almost 70% are released back into the wild. You can share this thrill with friends and family by sponsoring a raptor release.

All birds of prey admitted to Carolina Raptor Center receive the highest quality of care for their needs. We spend over $500 on the average patient. By supporting the Release-a-Raptor program, you can help with the rehabilitation and release of a beautiful bird of prey. The suggested donation for most species is $150.00. Special species are released in public event settings in order to carry the work and message of Carolina Raptor Center to large groups of people. Donations help cover the medical cost and rehabilitation of the injured or orphaned raptor.

Please keep in mind that birds become available for release as they finish recovering in our rehabilitation center. There are no guarantees that a particular species of bird will be available on one particular day. If you have a definite date in mind, it is best to remain flexible on the species, and allow us to choose a recovered raptor suitable for your location. If you are flexible on the date, we may be able to accommodate a special request for a particular species and notify you as one becomes available.

Raptor releases are perfect for occasions including birthdays, graduation parties, weddings, anniversaries, memorial services, and vineyard celebrations. As a Release-a-Raptor participant, you will receive a certificate and information about your bird. Your bird will be released by a trained member of the Release-a-Raptor team.

If you are interested in releasing a raptor, please fill out a Release-A-Raptor Request Form.
