Fast Facts

  • Carolina Raptor Center (CRC) has over 23 species of raptors on the 3/4 mile Raptor Trail.
  • Over 35,000 people visit CRC's Raptor Trail each year to learn about raptors and their habitats.
  • CRC features exotic and native species of raptors to demonstrate the need for international environmental conservation.
  • Our Visitor Services Center has a gift shop with a wide variety of gifts to delight children and adults.
  • CRC's over 100 resident raptors have a variety of jobs including education ambassador, flight expert and display team.
  • CRC's education team teaches formal curriculum based programs to over 25,000 school aged children every year.
  • CRC is one of the only centers in the southeast that rehabilitates and exhibits the American Bald Eagle -- 7 live on the Raptor Trail.
  • Savannah and Derek, CRC's mated pair of American Bald Eagles, have been laying eggs and hatching them for the past five years. Four of their offspring have been released into the wild, including "Noah," a female eagle, released in May 2010.
  • Over 700 injured and orphaned raptors are brought to CRC's raptor hospital.
  • Approximately 75 percent of the raptors that live longer than 24 hours are rehabilitated and released into the wild.
